About Catherine Cordwell

Catherine CordwellCatherine Cordwell, who recently opened our New Zealand office, brings a wealth of smart marketing and communications experience and fresh ideas to our LAD comm team.

Catherine and Lisa successfully worked together on the Cervena marketing campaign into the United States. Catherine also managed venison marketing in Germany, the UK and New Zealand.

Catherine's philosophy is one of starting with finding out what clients want to achieve and then working out the most creative, hard-hitting and cost effective marketing communications programs to achieve that.

Lisa and Catherine's experience with Cervena in the US market shows that significant results can be achieved on a modest budget by carefully and selectively focusing time and energy in areas that will return the strongest result.

A marketing strategy and brand specialist, Catherine Cordwell has over twelve years experience covering a wide range of areas, including food and beverages, services, export, education, banking and fuels.

Before establishing LAD comm's New Zealand office, Catherine Cordwell consulted part-time, while enjoying a young family, advising, developing and implementing strategic marketing and public relations plans. Clients included Emporio Coffee, SAS Consulting, Stephan's Restaurant and Country Cafe and Anise Innovative Thai Restaurant.

Prior to this, Ms Cordwell was Marketing Manager for Cervena and venison during four years at the New Zealand Game Industry Board. She was recruited to assist with the launch and roll-out of the Cervena appellation strategy in New Zealand and the United States. Three years after its launch, the Cervena name was known by 49% of US chefs using venison, with Cervena mentions reaching 22 million readers in targeted publications in the same year.

Her work at the Board covered all aspects of the marketing mix, including strategic marketing planning, brand identity development, research, public relations, advertising, sponsorship, sales promotion and support, joint merchandising, direct marketing, video production, packaging and quality issues. Catherine has a wealth of knowledge and experience of food retail and trade markets in New Zealand and around the world.

Earlier Catherine worked for Insight Consultants, a marketing communication consultancy managing a variety of clients. These included Shell Oil New Zealand, Westpac Banking Corporation, the LPG Association and the Seafood Industry Council.

Catherine has a Bachelor of Business Studies in Marketing from Massey University and holds a Certificate in Direct Marketing from the NZDMA.

Catherine loves spending time with her family and friends. She and husband Jonathan have three girls and enjoy going to the beach, having fluffies (for the kids!) and coffees at local cafes, cooking and reading.
