Short Case Histories:  

Akzo Nobel, Diamond Crystal Salt:
Created Celebrity Chef Salt Survey. PR campaign tripled sales in their premium branded salt division — campaign highlights included a 5-minute segment on the Rosie O'Donnell show, and a feature story on salt in The New York Times.

Anise Innovative Thai Restaurant:
With rave media reviews, but not enough people on seats, Catherine undertook some research of exiting and potential diners to see if there was anything the owners were missing. The research immediately showed polarized views on the communal tables, some loving it and others avoiding dining at Anise because of them. As a result Anise was able to change the table arrangements providing the option of communal dining as well as smaller tables, and business is growing steadily.

B. Smith:
Promoted this former model and restaurateur for five years. Results included regular appearances on The Today Show, a feature story in Newsweek and the cover of Parade Magazine. Developed and executed campaign which resulted in her own national television show and a lifestyle magazine published by American Express.

Baileys Original Irish Cream:
Created and executed cause-related marketing campaign in association with a national pastry chef contest. In each market we achieved local television coverage for the brand.

Barnardos:
Developed a brand identity for a new service, along with a test pilot marketing and brand positioning strategy to test the viability and demand for this service. Catherine worked alongside Barnardos in a workshop environment to draw on our combined experiences to develop the best approach.

Between the Bread:
Developed strategy for this business-to-business client. Created a campaign designed to promote New York City's largest corporate caterer. Results included company founder profiles on Good Morning America, CNN and in the marketplace section of The Wall Street Journal.

Bombay Sapphire Gin:
Created style-oriented product publicity campaign. Coverage included a color photograph of the product in the New York Times Sunday Magazine Style section.

Cervena Natural Tender Venison:
Developed strategy and positioning for this premium quality venison from New Zealand. Changed the perception among chefs and diners that venison was tough and gamey. Helped turn this into one of the hottest menu items of the 1990s. Coverage included feature stories by Food & Wine, Gourmet and CNN and inclusion by brand name in the new Joy of Cooking.

Chehalem Winery:
Developed story ideas and promotion vehicles such as "the website harvest report." Results included coverage on www.winetoday.com, the wine site for The New York Times.

Children's Museum of Manhattan:
Developed strategy and promoted special exhibition about the phenomenon of sound. Results included a six-minute segment on CNN's ShowBiz, and a feature story in The New York Times.

www.CitySearch.com:
Relaunched new New York City site and services which were covered by local New York television and newspapers including Fox News at 6:00 and The Daily News.

Crunch Fitness:
Targeted fitness and fashion editors with the hip story about this New York City-based gym company. Pitched the local Fox morning show a segment idea that turned into two hours of live coverage featuring one of the gym's instructors.

Ecce Panis Artisan Bread:
Promoted growing bakery and group of retail stores in New York City. Developed campaign visibility strategy to help secure investors. Campaign generated coveted articles in New York Magazine and InStyle Magazine.

Emporio Coffee:
Developed and implemented a marketing communications plan to support this high quality boutique Wellington coffee roaster. Communicating Emporio's total commitment to providing consistently superior beans and service, as well as stunning architecture lead to media coverage in publications including Urbis, Cuisine, New Zealand House & Garden and The Dominion. A year later Emporio had exceeded its sales objectives.

Film al Fresco:
Created, named and produced New York City's first outdoor film festival. Produced in association with restaurateur Pino Luongo to help bring media attention to Le Madri restaurant. Each Sunday night it received volumes of local publicity, exposing the restaurant to a new audience.

FiZZ Kids Clothing:
Catherine worked with Sue Prescott, designer and owner of fiZZ to develop a media strategy designed to target potential buyers in the central Wellington region. As a result fiZZ received media coverage to rival that achieved by market leaders Pumpkin Patch and Just Kids. Coverage included the Dominion Post, with a series of photos, and local weeklies such as Cook Strait News and Capital Times.

Il Fornaio:
Promoted the head baker of this national publicly traded restaurant company. Media trained baking champion Jan Schat. Results included feature story in Gourmet Magazine, and television coverage on Martha Stewart Living.

Metropolitan Musuem of Art:
Worked on the communications team that opened the 20th century wing. Created the VIP press conference, including a preview tour with David Dinkins, mayor of New York City.

Nelson Atkins Museum:
Promoted centennial exhibition of 19th century muralist Thomas Hart Benton. Worked directly with film maker Ken Burns to promote his accompanying film. Results included cover stories in the Smithsonian Magazine and USA Today Weekend.

Pondicherry Restaurant:
Launched the restaurant on behalf of co-owner Ismail Merchant. Organized media dinners with Bette Midler, Paul Newman, Peter Jennings, etc. The restaurant received a very positive review from The New York Times.

Nora Poullion:
Created a media tour to promote Nora's book "Cooking with Nora," published by Random House. Organized book signings and generated results including feature stories in each market visited and local morning show appearances.

SAS Consulting:
Facilitated team marketing planning session, aimed at developing this group of independent health professionals repeat and new business, as well as getting the individuals to work more cohesively as a team. Recommended that a series of education and networking seminars be run with existing and potential clients. As a result, the team gained substantial new work.

Seiko Watches
Repositioned Seiko as a fashion accessory. Organized and promoted fashion show at the Guggenheim Museum. Accessory editors from all national magazines covered the event.

Shell Oil New Zealand Limited:
Development and production of point of sales materials. Managed public relations campaign surrounding Mike Southward's attempt to break the world jet boat speed record using Shell fuel.

Staton Hills Winery
Created media tour for winemaker and generated product publicity in targeted publications. Traveled to markets, participated in sales presentations and secured local media coverage.

Terra Chips
Educated the two entrepreneurs who founded the company about public relations and its role within the marketing mix. Traveled to industry shows, conducted focus groups, created a media campaign that resulted in feature stories in publications such as Inc. and Forbes. The founders have sold the company and are happily raising their young families.
